Certified Phlebotomy Programs

Becoming certified in phlebotomy through Certified Phlebotomy Programs shows that an individual has been resourceful in his/her quest for knowledge in this particular phase of health care.  If you are not a doctor, nurse or a clinical lab scientist, California and Louisiana require that you must have a license to draw blood.  What this does mean is that if you had proper supervision, you would be able to draw blood without a certification in the rest of the states.  Getting a job would be most difficult to do as surely employers would much rather hire one who is qualified and professionally certified by their state.

A certified phlebotomist saves doctors and nurses this time consuming task by drawing blood in doctor's offices drawing blood many times during the day in hospitals.  Certified Phlebotomy Programs are taught at Arizona College of Allied Health, 4425 West Olive Avenue, Suite 300, Glendale, Arizona 85302.  This program is two quarters of 10 weeks each, with the externship being 5 weeks in length.  A student will learn to collect blood from a patient, prepare specimens for the laboratory, verify a patients records for laboratory analysis of the blood.

A phlebotomist can also do finger sticks, take vital signs and do the screenings at the local blood bank.  Ask for more information about Certified Phlebotomy Programs from the Arizona College.  Brookline College in Phoenix, Arizona, offers programs for phlebotomists who will learn to use tourniquets, butterfly needles, proper use of syringes, vacuutainer tubes and sleeves and other standard equipment.  The program will prepare a student to take the national certification exam and also will equip them for entry level positions in clinics, hospitals, and other medical facilities in this field of ever expanding health care

These colleges and others in various state maintain their own special curriculum of learning for the students in their Certified Phlebotomy Programs.  When an individual has completed the training, taken the test for their state and passed, they will have a whole new world open to them with an hourly wage of $10 to $12 per hour and over to look forward to.  With the relatively short span of time required to become certified, it is well worth the time it takes in monetary value and pride in this special vocation, to graduate.
